All Ready for South End Beachfill
Construction works are about to begin on the Phipps Ocean Park/Reach 7 beach nourishment project in the Town of Palm Beach, Florida.
The project will place over 1,000,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach, along the shoreline between the north end of Phipps Ocean Park and the north end of the County’s Kreusler Park.
Sand needed for the Reach 7 beach fill will be dredged from an from an offshore borrow area located approximately 1,200-1,500 feet offshore.
The contract, worth around $17 million, was awarded by the town council to Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Co. back in June 2015.
According to town officials, the Reach 7 area hasn’t had a full-scale beach nourishment project since 2006.
