Pella Sietas Builds New Dredger for WSV

The German Waterways and Shipping Authority (WSV) has ordered a new trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) from Pella Sietas Shipyard, Hamburg.

The new dredger, worth around €95 million, will be funded through the company’s ‘Future Investment Program’, the WSV said in its announcement.

The newbuild, the WSV’s biggest dredger to date, will operate mainly in tidal waters of the River Elbe.

With its loading volume of 7500m³, the new vessel exceeds the capacity of the WSV’s TSHD Nordsee, which is currently serving with the Agency.

Technical data:

  • Length: 132m;
  • Width: 23.4m;
  • Draft CWL: 6.9m;
  • Loading space: 7.500m³;
  • Dredging depth: 25m;
  • Power: 14.000kW.

The news TSHD will be delivered to the WSV in December 2018.
