Boskalis Nets Contracts Worth EUR 200 Million

Boskalis has over the last couple of weeks acquired a number of medium sized and various smaller projects in the Netherlands with a combined contract value of more than EUR 200 million.

Today, the Dutch Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) announced that it intends to award the contract for the canal expansion Twentekanalen phase 2 to Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. and Van den Herik.

According to Rijkswaterstaat, the project is aimed at the expansion of three sections of the Twentekanalen which is necessary to increase the accessible of the regional inland ports and to cater for larger inland barges.

The project is expected to commence in the second half of 2017 and will be completed by 2020. The contract carries a value of more than EUR 50 million with a 50% share for Boskalis.

Also today, Boskalis was awarded the project for the expansion and doubling of the N62 road (Tractaatweg) in the province Zeeland. Preparations are due to start this spring and the project will be completed in the spring of 2019. The project carries a contract value of approximately EUR 30 million.

The remaining acquired projects include the reinforcement of the Houtrib dike with a contract value of EUR 45 million, two coastal protection projects for Rijkswaterstaat and a number of smaller road infrastructure projects.
