Buxton Beach Nourishment Operations Underway
Dare County has just announced that Weeks Marine has resumed pumping operations in Buxton.
The hopper dredge R.N. Weeks started pumping sand at approximately 12:30 p.m. yesterday from the second landing point/subline that is located approximately 1 mile north of Buxton, reported the county.
According to Dare County, pumping will proceed south to tie in with the section of beach that was completed by the cutterhead dredge C.R. McCaskill earlier in August.
The cutterhead dredge C.R. McCaskill also arrived on site yesterday and is expected to resume pumping sand later today.
The beach nourishment work will proceed south from the first landing point/subline located at the north end of Buxton.
