The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District, has just released these beautiful photos from their Mantoloking beach replenishment project in New Jersey.

Our contractor, Weeks Marine, Inc., is dredging and pumping sand at Mantoloking, NJ as part of one of the largest beachfill projects in our history. We are building a 13-mile dune and berm system in northern Ocean County, New Jersey to reduce the risk of storm damages to infrastructure,” USACE said in its latest update.

The Christie Administration is pleased that this critical project has begun because it will protect vulnerable beaches along our coast by developing a statewide system of engineered beaches,” NJDEP Commissioner, Bob Martin, said at the kick-off ceremony in June 2017.

USACE’s Philadelphia District, is currently conducting beachfill operations in Mantoloking, Ocean City and Longport, New Jersey – part of the Manasquan Inlet to Barnegat Inlet coastal scheme.

These are three separate projects with the same purpose – reducing the risk of coastal storm damages, USACE said.
