Florida Dredge and Dock, LLC (FDD) has won a $1.2 million maintenance dredging contract in Sarasota County, Florida.

The project includes dredging works in shoaled areas of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) in the vicinity of Venice inlet.

The required dredging depth is 9 feet MLLW with a 2-foot allowable overdepth.

Officials estimate that approximately 38,000 cubic yards of dredged sediment will be removed from the waterway.

According to the Army Corps, all dredged materials are anticipated to be beach quality.

If so, the dredged sand will be placed on to the designated beach disposal area which lies immediately south of the inlet.
