Work on Narudhoo Island harbor development in full swing

The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) said that the Narudhoo Island Harbor Development Project is well underway.

In the latest project update, the company said that the first shipment of precast concrete blocks required for quay wall construction has been delivered to the site.

MTCC kicked off the physical work for the harbor development project on May 4, 2023.

Under the program, MTCC is required to conduct harbor dredging operations in an area measuring 51,212 cubic meters as well as channel dredging operations in an area of 4,120 cubic meters.

The construction of a quay wall measuring 210 meters, a 371-meter breakwater and a revetment measuring 205 meters also come under the scope of the project.

Further, MTCC will also be installing harbor lights as well as a harbor pavement measuring 955 square meters and constructing a ramp under the project.

The value of the project is MVR 41.34 million ($2.7 million).
