Dredging works announced for Halfway Reach

Port of London Authority has announced that on or about Monday 24th July 2023, marine contractors working on behalf of City of London Corporation will commence works to decommission the former Barking Power Station and Outfall in Halfway Reach.

The works include: removal of the existing outfall structure (inclusive of the cardinal mark and lights); dredging operations; decommissioning of the intake/outfall tunnels; and diving operations.

This will be undertaken by using a variety of barges including crane barges, supply barges, Multi-Cats, tugs and work boats.

According to PLA, works are expected to take approximately 4 months. Usual operational hours are Monday to Friday during the hours of 07:30 to 17:30.
