Hall Contracting crew busy at Nanumanga atoll

After successfully delivering a 78,000m2 bunded foreshore reclamation area, boat harbour and breakwater in Funafuti, the Maldives, recently, Hall Contracting crew is now at the Nanumanga atoll, working on construction of a 665m berm top barrier and boat ramp.

The new infrastructure – being delivered as part of the Tuvalu Coastal Adaptation Project – will help to protect Tuvalu from the impacts of climate change, the company said.

“Tracking equipment ashore is no easy feat, with the atoll’s entrance channel too narrow and shallow to accommodate large vessels,” said Hall.

“To address this, our crew landed the ‘Orion’ barge on the edge of the atoll in the surf zone and transported the equipment ashore at low tide.”
