Wabasha, USACE Mississippi River dredged sand partnership pays dividends (VIDEO)

The Corps of Engineers is paying the city a tipping fee to move the sand from a temporary placement site to a permanent site about a mile away where the sand will be used to reclaim an old mine.

Approximately 25 percent of the nearly 1 million cubic yards of sand that the St. Paul District removes from the Mississippi River annually is generated within the Wabasha community.

Having a partner in the City of Wabasha significantly helps USACE ensures a safe, reliable navigation system.
