Prime Minister of Barbados visits Van Oord

The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, visited Van Oord’s Rotterdam office yesterday. The visit was part of her working visit to The Netherlands.

As an island state, Barbados is particularly susceptible to the impacts of climate change, including coastal inundation and sea level rise.

Prime Minister Mottley talked with Van Oord officials about coastal challenges that the Dutch company can contribute to, like climate adaptation, coastal infrastructure and Ocean Health initiatives like coral restoration.

“Working with communities, we take action based on the insights provided,” said Van Oord.

“By proven Climate Adaptation and Building with Nature solutions such as mangrove restoration and the sand motor, we create long-lasting improvement for local communities.”
