The discussions took place between the leadership of the State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan and a European Union delegation led Head of the EU Division for Central Asia and Afghanistan Adriaen, at the Turkmenbashi International Seaport earlier this week.

The Turkmen side presented information on the port’s modern infrastructure, cargo flow directions, and European-made equipment in operation, as well as ongoing projects at the Balkan shipbuilding and repair yard.

The State Service of Maritime and River Transportation of Turkmenistan said that particular attention was paid to maintaining navigable channel depth through dredging operations, including the acquisition and construction of specialized dredging vessels.

Also, the sides reviewed international tender processes for new vessel construction and Turkmenistan’s steps toward accession to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Convention on the Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic (FAL).
