Chincoteague Inlet Dredging Moves Ahead (USA)

The U.S. Army Corps dredging vessel Currituck is removing dangerous shoals along the Chincoteague inlet channel.

The vessel had been finishing work in the Philadelphia area and was called upon to dredge some critical inlet areas in Chincoteague.

Norfolk District project manager Kristen Mazur says fishermen had complained that they were only able to navigate the inlet during high tide.

Mazur says a larger portion of the channel is scheduled to be dredged in January.
