“The present government has given importance to develop the country’s river routes and conserve them,” said Khan.

The BIWTA has finished the Paturia-Baghabari river route dredging (about 50 kilometres) for night navigation with a budget Tk 3.0 million, and the BIWTA has also been continuing the Paturia-Baghabari river dredging for ensuring smooth navigability in different routes to establish night navigation facilities.

Night navigation has been introduced for the smooth plying of water vessels in the night. The complexities in the transportation of fertilizer, fuel and other agricultural inputs have been removed following the introduction of night navigation,” the minister concluded.
