Belgium: Beach of De Haan-Weinduine to Get New Sand

Agentschap voor Maritieme Dienstverlening en Kust has awarded the beach of De Haan-Weinduine replenishment contract to the THV Vlaamse Baaien.

This contract is intended to carry out a beach (and bank) material supplementation of the beach of De Haan-Weinduine and the continuing sandy area to other beaches or dunes along the Flemish coast.

The works aim to recover:

1. The safety of the beach at De Haan – Wenduine after the storms of winter 2010-2011 and to increase it under the coastal protection master plan, build a buffer for the compensation of expected erosion and furthe possible operations at the beach;

2. The security increase of erosive areas or restoration of the beaches on the Flemish coast.

The value of this contract is 10,000,000 EUR.
