USA: Lenox to Host Meeting on Housatonic River Cleanup

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will hold a second meeting about the pending cleanup of the Housatonic River, according to berkshireeagle.com.

The meeting will be June 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School.

At a May 24 session, state and federal officials gave a broad overview of a shared vision for managing PCB contamination in the Housatonic south of the confluence of the east and west branches in Pittsfield.

EPA spokesman Jim Murphy said the next meeting will be similar in format to the one held last month, with a brief presentation and a period for the public to ask questions.

We’re looking at it more as a listening session — just getting people’s reaction to the document we put out there,” Murphy said.
