Indonesia: Cakung Drain Lama River Needs Dredging

According to beritajakarta.com, the mud and trashes are seen in a two-kilometer long Cakung Drain Lama River which passes four urban villages in North Jakarta.

Due to this condition, the river body became narrow and water cannot maximally flow to the sea, as well as prone to flood.

Chief of RT Tuguselatan, Encip, hoped Cakung Drain Lama River can immediately be dredged so it can minimize puddle when rain pours.

Due to mud and trash in the river, mosquito larvae is also spotted there and it is worried to cause disease. Hopefully, the dredging can be realized as soon as possible,” he expected.

Responding to this, Head Section of Nature Resource Maintenance for Jakarta Public Works Department, Rifig Abdullah, expressed that his parties have planned to dredge and normalize the Cakung Drain Lama River. Unfortunately, it is still constrained due to many buildings which stand on the side of the river. That’s why the land acquisition must be conducted first before normalizing it.
