India: Ennore Port LNG Terminal Makes Progress

The pre-project activities for the construction of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification terminal at the Ennore Port, are making significant progress.

Mr. S. Velumani, the Ennore Port chairman and managing director, stated: “We will provide them land on the water front and dredge the berth area, but the construction works will be undertaken by Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) itself.”

According to deccanchronicle.com, this Rs 4,500 crore project is expected to provide relief to the state in the wake of current power shortage.

LNG is a good alternative fuel and it can be supplied to gas-based power plants,” concluded Mr. Velumani.

The LNG terminal is expected to be completed by March 2016.
