Port of Vicksburg Dredging to Get Boost (USA)

The dredging project on the Yazoo Diversion Canal at the Port of Vicksburg will get a boost in a couple of days.

The dredger Iowa (32 feet wide and 130 feet long vessel), assigned to do this work, should arrive next week at the Port, reports therepublic.com. The Iowa is a better solution for this project then the dredger Jadwin, stated Corps spokesman Kavanaugh Breazeale, and added: “The Jadwin would be too big and is made for the river.”

The purpose of this dredging project is to help river traffic deal with low water in the Mississippi River.
