Pipe Installation for Nanticoke Dredging Scheduled for Next Week

Construction crews will begin work Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, to install two casing pipes beneath Woodland Road as part of the Nanticoke River dredging project.

This project will affect those traveling between Seaford and Woodland throughout the month of December.

The temporary pipes are necessary to shuttle dredged material from the river to the spoils site at the former Woodland Golf Park, and then return water to the river. This project will result in intermittent lane closures each day, between 6:30 a.m. and midnight, Monday through Friday. Flaggers will be stationed along Woodland Road to assist motorists traveling through this area.

Zack Excavating of Smyrna, DE, has been contracted to perform this work. Extended hours are necessary to ensure quick, timely completion of the project. Sussex County inspectors will be on site each weekday supervising construction, and available to address concerns from the public. No work will occur on weekends.

Crews are scheduled to finish work by Dec. 30, but could complete the installation project before the Christmas holiday.
