UK: ABPmer to Develop Port Management Tool

ABPmer to Develop Port Management Tool

Associated British Ports’ Group Sustainable Development Team has commissioned ABPmer to develop an online interactive data viewer that will enable users to dynamically view, search, query, annotate, and print port specific infomaps.

This system, based on ESRI ArcGIS Server and Geocortex, will initially be populated with environmental information such as designations, flood risk projections, and climate change scenarios but will be expanded in the future to include asset, property and customer information.

Claire Brown, Head of GIS and Data at ABPmer said: “We have been developing various web-based tools for sharing data in recent years – such as WebVISION our interactive data and information portal at https://vision.abpmer.net. We have also been providing interactive maps for harbour authorities for some time, so we are delighted to bring these two services together in this management tool for ABP. By overlaying various layers of information, Port personnel will shortly be able to holistically understand a port’s operations and how it interacts with the surrounding environment.”

ABPmer is a recognised specialist in providing bespoke solutions to the Ports Sector. As a subsidiary of Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s largest ports group, ABPmer has over 60 years related research and consultancy practice and recognises that the successful design and operation of ports, harbours and marinas is dependent on understanding both the marine environment system and operational requirements.
