Ayer Merbau Basin Dredging Begins Next Week

Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has informed the shipping, harbour craft and pleasure craft communities in Singapore’s waters that dredging project at the Ayer Merbau Basin and its vicinity will commence on April 10, 2013.

The dredging and construction works will be carried out by the grab dredger and crane barge. The grab dredger will be held by 2-point anchoring system.

The dredger with flat top barges in attendance, will have a circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centred at the dredger.

The dredged materials will be transported to the designated dumping ground by the flat top barges. During the operation the dredgers will be attended by tug boat. The tug boats will be used to shift the dredger.

A safety boat will be deployed in the vicinity of the working area to warn other crafts of the project.
