Port of Beira Dredging About to Begin

During the next few days the 2500 m3 TSHD turn-key dredger “Macuti” is expected to commence a dredging program in the Port of Beira, Mozambique.

This dredging project will ensure a depth of at least 8 metres in the so-called Macuti bend, an area in the Beira Port where a high concentration of silt totals an average of 3 million cubic metres, reports macauhub.com.

The Macuti dredger, equipped with two 1,720 kW main engines and one 1935 kW dredge engine, should solve the problem of silting in the port’s access channel once and for all, the officials believe.
