Corps Introduces Kings Bay Dredging Details

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announced the details about the Kings Bay dredging plan.

This deepening program will include maintenance dredging in the Kings Bay entrance channel to a required depth of 49 feet.

The material dredged from the entrance channel will be placed on either the beach or disposed of in the Ocean Disposal Area, and the beach compatible material should be deposited in the North Beach Disposal Area (D/A-NB).

The total cost of the Kings Bay dredging venture is between $5 mln and $10 mln, and the proposals will be due on or about 5 November 2013.
