More Consultations Needed on Coromandel Harbor Dredging

Thames-Coromandel District Council has approved the start of resource consent applications to expand Sugarloaf Wharf to serve the aquaculture industry and address health and safety and congestion issues.

The development of a detailed business case was also approved for the half-meter dredging of Furey’s Creek for charter boats and recreational boaties, and the Coromandel dredged basin concept.

On-going consultation will be undertaken with the projects Stakeholder Working Group, and future public meetings will be planned as part of a wider consultation process.

In addition, the project will be put out for district consultation as part of next year’s Long Term Plan.
