Maldives Coastal Protection Project Signed
A Grant Agreement has been signed between the Government of the Republic of the Maldives and the Government of the Netherlands to implement a project aimed at remedying the coastal erosion faced by the populations of Gn.Fuvahmulah, S.Maradhoo, Maradhoo-Feydhoo and S.Feydhoo.
Minister Abdulla Jihad signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of the Republic of the Maldives whilst His Excellency Ambassador Louis Piët signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of the Netherlands.
The Client Consultancy Agreement for this project was signed by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim and Mr. Jean Henry Laboyrie, Director Global Rivers, Deltas & Coasts of Royal HaskoningDHV.
The Agreement signed yesterday marks the commencement of the development phase of the project. The works will be executed by a consortium of Royal HaskoningDHV and TechForce Innovations B.V. and the costs are covered by the Dutch ORIO grant.
