Shoreham Adur Scheme on the Design Board

The Environment Agency is working on a major scheme that will reduce flood risk to the towns of Shoreham-by-Sea and Lancing in West Sussex.

Since November 2014, the Agency held seven exhibitions and drop-in sessions on the Shoreham Adur tidal walls scheme.

At these events a lot has been said about the new flood defenses, sharing the preliminary design drawings for the whole scheme.

The Environment Agency has spent the last few months looking through the feedback received during the sessions about the scheme designs and how to incorporate them.

All of the design drawings will now be taken one step further into the ‘detailed design stage’. This means that the technical drawings will be reviewed and finalized so that they are ready to be submitted as part of the planning application for the scheme.

The start of the construction works has been set for early 2016, subject to funding approval.
