VIDEO: King’s Bay Restoration

Gator Dredging, a Florida based dredging contractor, is restoring King’s Bay in Crystal River by using a hydraulic dredging method.

The King’s Bay Restoration Project is a public-private partnership that will clean King’s Bay, engage Citrus County students increase tourism and restore aquatic habitat for the marine plants and animals that depend on it. Gator is teamed with Save Crystal River and Sea & Shoreline to remove Lyngbya and restore King’s Bay.

For years, residents have tried different removal methods, but the Lyngbya has spread and covered the clean sand on the bottom.

Gator designed and built a custom dredge to remove the invasive Lynqbya and protect the local wildlife.
