Public Meeting Set on Fond du Lac Dredging

A public meeting to discuss disposal of dredged material from Lakeside Park’s Fisherman’s Pier will be held by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, at the Fond du Lac Government Center.

The city of Fond du Lac has requested approval from the DNR to dispose of sediments dredged from Fisherman’s Pier. They propose to use the material as fill and landscape material at various sites in Fond du Lac.

“These include property located at 566 N Main St., an area west of the Lakeside Park dog park and the Fox Ridge Business Park. It could also be used to repair lawns damaged by municipal construction projects,” DNR said in its release.

The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment and answer questions on the proposal. There will be a brief introduction and explanation of the project by DNR and city representatives.

DNR said that all public comments will be considered by the department in its decision on the proposal.
