The dredging contractor, J.F. Brennan Company, Inc., conducted a survey of the Fountain Lake last Friday, September 6, showing the dredging progress to date, reports Shell Rock River Watershed District.

The SRRWD Board of Managers approved a nearly $5.1 million contract with LaCrosse, Wisconsin-based dredging contractor in March 2018 for the first phase of Fountain Lake dredging work.

For the project, the contractor is using a pipeline and 14- to 16-foot cutter suction dredger.

According to the SRRWD, over 536,900 cubic yards have been dredged from Edgewater Bay of Fountain Lake during the duration of this phase, including last summer.

After completion in the fall of 2019, the second phase of dredging will commence in the Main Bay, including Dane’s Bay.
