Ugolnye Kopi project moving along

FUSE Morspassluzhba has begun installation of piles for the berth No. 2 of the new ferry and passenger terminal under construction in the village of Ugolnye Kopi (Chukotka), reports FSUE Rosmorport.

The project envisages construction of three new berths – cargo, cargo-passenger, and passenger-only.

According to Aleksandr Druzhinin, Deputy Head of the Marine Service for Hydraulic Construction of the Morspassluzhba, the construction is on schedule.

“Next week, an excavator and backhoe loader will arrive to the construction site. This will allow a number of other works to be performed in parallel,” said Druzhinin.

Overall, the construction of the new berth is part of the state program “Transport System Development”. The facility will provide safe sea transportation across the Anadyr firth on the route Anadyr – settlement of Ugolnye Kopi.

All in all, the project calls for the construction of new berths, coastal protection works, as well as dredging in the volume of 3.7 thousand cubic meters.

If all goes according to schedule, the new terminal will open in late 2021.
