Anclote River dredging plan introduced

USACE Jacksonville District awarded a $3.78 million contract last month to Diamond Service Corp. of Morgan City, La., for maintenance dredging of the 9-foot Anclote River channel and turning basin.

The work is located in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, Florida.

“The non-federal sponsor is the City of Tarpon Springs; however, the entire cost of the project is federally funded,” said USACE.

In addition to dredging operations, the contract calls for the construction of a temporary, upland dredged material management area to receive the dredged material and related environmental monitoring of endangered species.

The contractor is expected to begin operations in late summer or early fall of 2021 and complete the project in the summer of 2022.
