Carolina and Kure CSRM contract awarded

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Wilmington District awarded a contract for Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) at Carolina Beach and Kure Beach for $20,3 million on January 18, 2022.

According to USACE, the benefits of this CSRM project include protection from erosion and other effects from coastal storms.

The project provides economic benefits by protecting private property, and ensuring beaches are primed for tourism and recreation. These programs have been in the works for a long time, thanks to the full support of partners.

Work is expected to begin February 2022 and finish by March 31, 2022.
