Years in the making, Post 45 will deepen Charleston Harbor to 52 feet.

“Upon completion later this year, the harbor will be the deepest on the east coast and allow the largest ships in the world to call on our port,” said USACE.

The Charleston Harbor Post 45 Deepening Project looks to address transportation inefficiencies by deepening and widening Charleston Harbor to allow for growth in the shipping industry with the influx of Post-Panamax ships calling on port in the Lowcountry.

According to USACE, the project will provide over $169 M in average annual benefits.
