Port of Oulu

According to the port, preparatory work in the harbor was completed last week, and the dredging started yesterday, October 3, 2022.

The project includes removal of approximately 18,500m3 of dredge material from the harbor basin, of which approximately 15,000m3 will be taken off from the Oritkari basin and around 3,500m3 from Vihreäsaari.

Using one of their barge-mounted excavators, dredging contractor R-Towing Oy is supposed to complete this maintenance dredging project before the end of 2022.

All material removed during the excavation will be transported by barges to the dumping basin, which is located in the Orikari port area.

In addition to this, the contractor will next year remove another 33,000m3 of material, once all necessary permits are obtained.
