Developing Port of Bari by Jan De Nul

The Port of Bari is one of the main economic focal points of Southern Italy. To make the region ready to receive both more and larger vessels, Jan De Nul helped construct an extension to the port.

According to JDN, 586,000 m3 of limestone – an extremely massive soil layer- had to be removed, to build the new port terminal.

Overall, this infrastructure project included dredging works, filling/land reclamation, wharf construction, etc.

Being well-suited for the hard seabed conditions, Jan De Nul decided to bring in their newest cutter suction dredger for the job.

The Port of Bari is an important ferry line port, cruise boat terminal and cargo transport hub to South East Europe.
