White Rock Lake dredging project step closer

The Dallas City Council has approved an engineering services contract to provide preliminary engineering design services for the White Rock Lake Dredging Project.

City of Dallas

According to the city officials, the Board approved the contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in an amount not to exceed $952,700.00.

Under the deal, the contractor will complete preliminary engineering design services for the White Rock Lake project, and provide long term options for how to optimally perform future dredging operations.

Dallas Park and Recreation will host community engagement meetings in 2023 to review preliminary designs. Once dredging is funded and completed, White Rock will feature deeper lake water ideal for sailing and other recreational activities.

White Rock Lake was last dredged in 1998. During this campaign, a cutter suction dredge was used to pump approximately 3,000,000 cubic yards of sediment from the bottom of the lake through 24-inch pipes straight into the pit.
