According to the Lockwood Inlet Association, the Miss Katie began dredging in the area at Lockwood Inlet yesterday. She will be operating 24 hours a day with two crews rotating.

“They have a small pilot channel through the throat of the inlet and are taking sand out via hopper to enlarge the channel. The inlet has changed, and this will be a new channel that has not been used in many years,” the Association said.

The sand removed from the Lockwood Inlet is being deposited near the beach on east side of Holden, from where it could be used for future renourishment efforts.
