For this project, the company mobilised its trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Scheldt River and the cutter suction dredger (CSD) Ganga to tackle 1 million m³ of soft sediments.

The project’s primary objective was to deepen the access channel and berths of the newly constructed quay wall, which will play a role in accommodating the growing number of renewable energy projects in the region.

“We took an eco-conscious approach throughout the project by reusing all the dredged material to create a new polder that is under final completion,” said DEME.

According to the company, the 10-ha polder will serve as a handling and storage area for the port’s ongoing development.
