Land & Water has been working tirelessly around the clock collecting over 300,000 cubic metres of silt and restoring the Queen Pool back to its original depth.

The project, which began in April 2022, included using three diggers set on a floating platform which moved slowly across the full surface of the lake. Along with the diggers, the contractor deployed six hoppers to move the silt from the platform to land.

The dredged material was then hauled up to the Great Park, creating a landform (a hill or mound) over 16ha. Eventually, this land will be returned to the grassland.
