According to the Port of Townsville, the dredge Woomera is ready for the next phase of the project – dredging the Harbour Entrance.

“Dredging is about to start at the Harbour Entrance at the mouth of the Ross Creek as Townsville’s shipping channel is widened,” the Port said in the update. “A construction zone is in place around backhoe dredge Woomera for your safety.”

The Port also added that during the works, mariners are requested to stay outside the yellow and black cardinal marks.

Dredging will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with barges transporting the dredge material to a jetty on the new rock wall.
