The consortium includes Coral Delgado & Asociados, Bonus Banca de Inversión and Ingeniería De Proyectos, and the contract is worth 8.5bn pesos (US$2.1 million).

ANI’s structuring VP, Jonathan Bernal, said that the consortium have until the end of 2024 to finish the project.

The structuring will focus on technical, legal and financial aspects, as well as best practices for public-private partnerships, in order to allow the government to offer an attractive PPP contract for the navigation works at a later stage, said Bernal.

The main goal is to create a new transportation route between the municipalities of Puerto López, in Meta department, and Puerto Carreño, in Vichada.

The Meta River is the second most important in Colombia’s river master plan, and it is seen as a strategic corridor that will boost agroindustrial and forestry production in the region.
