Wrightsville Beach renourishment work begins this week

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Wilmington District has announced the start date for the Wrightsville Beach coastal storm risk management (CSRM) renourishment project.

Starting this week, expect to see commercial vessels and marine equipment in Banks Channel, towards the south end of the beach, and into Masonboro Inlet,” announced the Army Corps.

USACE also added that the contractor will begin stringing pipe in the water in Masonboro Inlet and vicinity at this time.

Marinex Construction will initially land their pipe on the beach near the Blockade Runner Hotel and work their way north.

Dredging in Masonboro Inlet, screening and and placing beach-quality sand on to the coastline is expected to begin the week of December 17th.
