In December 2023, when Funafuti works completed, the TCAP team mobilized construction work and moved to Nanumaga.

Hall Contractors established their site at the northern end of the island. Works continued through January and February, with only a small delay due to large seas and westerly conditions in early February.

By the end of February over 650 meters of Berm Top Barrier (BTB) was constructed along Nanumaga’s western coastline, raising the coastal dune by two meters, and providing enhanced protection from the threat of coastal inundation.

After Nanumaga, the team has mobilized to Nanumea Island to carry out similar coastal projection works for that island.

If all goes well and according to plan, the entire TCAP Project should be completed by July 2024.
