Indonesia: Kalibaru River Dredging Underway

Jakarta Provincial Government is currently undertaking the Kalibaru River dredging project.

“This dredging is carried out to prevent flood from happening in Jakarta, because of the wastes thrown intentionally into the river by the locals or residents from other areas,” stated Head of Water Resources Maintenance for East Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Sunarto.

Dedy Junaidi, a member of Batuampar Urban Village Committee (LMK), stated that the wastes have been piling up since two months ago, reports beritajakarta.com.
