IIM Organizes Ninth Annual Conference on Ports in India

Indian Infrastructure magazine, in collaboration with the Centre for Infrastructure Policy and Regulation of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, is organising its ninth annual conference on “Ports in India : Capacity Expansion and Improving Efficiency: The Way Forward’’ on January 31-February 1, 2012, at The Leela, Mumbai.

The mission of this conference is to provide a forum for discussing the road map for capacity expansion and improving efficiency in the port sector including the implementation plan for the Maritime Agenda 2010-2020. The conference will also provide an analysis of the key trends and future outlook, highlight the new initiatives and projects, identify emerging opportunities, and discuss the main issues and challenges. It will showcase promising approaches, strategies, technologies and solutions.

The two-day conference will have at least 9 sessions: Key Trends and Outlook, Government Perspective Operator Viewpoint, Major Ports: Focus on Projects, New Ports and Terminals, Investor Perspective, Focus on Environment, Need for Port Security, Improving Port Connectivity, Global Scenario and Promise of New Technology and Equipment.

The conference is targeted at officials and managers from: major port trusts, minor ports, private port operators, equipment providers, funding/development agencies, maritime boards, financial institutions and banks, equity analysts, shipping companies, state port departments, insurance companies, port IT providers, private contractors, consultancy organizations, dredging companies, port service providers etc.
