Waikiki Beach Replenishment Plan Moves Ahead (USA)

A blessing ceremony for a multi-million dollar Waikiki beach replenishment project will be held this week.

The Waikiki beach replenishment project includes pumping offshore sand to a stretch of beach from the Royal Hawaiian Hotel to the Duke Kahanamoku statue.

This project will cost around $2.5 million.

Waikiki is a neighborhood of Honolulu, in the City and County of Honolulu, on the south shore of the island of Oʻahu, in Hawaii. Waikiki Beach is the shoreline fronting Waikiki.

Waikiki is home to public places including Kapiʻolani Park, Fort de Russy Military Reservation, Kahanamoku Lagoon, Kūhiō Beach Park, and Ala Wai Harbor.
