Belize: Officials OK Southside Belize City Dredging Project
The Southside Belize dredging project has take another major step forward.
Two days ago, Minister Anthony “Boots” Martinez, his deputies, and other stakeholders have signed a plan to dredge the canals that run through various sections of Southside Belize City.
“We are looking forward to this in terms of delivering the basic service to the people of Port Loyola and on the south side of Belize City. All three projects will be passing my area, Jane Usher Boulevard directly in Port Loyola; half of Neal’s Pen Road is directly in Port Loyola, and a part of the lining of the canal is in Port Loyola also. So it’s a good day for the people of Port Loyola. I think it’s long awaited, long anticipated – especially Jane Usher Boulevard which in the initial stages has some hitches. It was down for approval in the first stage of the south side project, but due to the squatters on the road reserve it was put off,” concluded Minister Anthony “Boots” Martinez.
The time line for the beginning of the project has not been revealed yet.
