Jammu and Kashmir: Officials Put in Service New Water Master

Officials Put in Service New Water Master.

The Irrigation and Flood Control Department yesterday put in to service a recently procured, sophisticated and a powerful dredging machine, the Water Master.

This dredger was already used for Dal Lake restoration project.

Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din said: “Costing Rs 6 crore, the Water Master does the de-siliting and other excavation job, while floating on the surface like an amphibian machine. The department hopes to also use it for clearing the interior City channels like, Sunar Khul, Kuta Khul etc which earned the summer capital the title of a Venice of the east.”

“With the machine completing the clearance work, Jhelum would be made fit for the water transport from Zerobridge to Chatabal in the first phase,” the official concluded.
