Western Basin Dredging Continues

The cutter suction dredge Al Mahaar and three backhoes are in operation in the Western Basin.

The Turbidity Management Plan is in action to mitigate turbidity on the high tidal flows caused by king tides this week.

In consultation with the Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management (DERM) and the Dredge Technical Reference Panel normal dredging operations resumed at 10.15am yesterday.

Gladstone Ports Corporation is committed to carrying out Western Basin Dredging and Disposal Project with care and respect for the local environment, in strict accordance with all regulatory conditions.

GPC has employed world’s best practice for dredging as part of the Project, with stringent environmental standards in place.
